High-speed doors for safety in the chemical industry

The chemical industry is characterised by complex processes involving reactive and flammable substances and demanding environmental conditions. This requires stringent measures to minimise risks and ensure the safety of people, products and facilities, including appropriate access. Ferroflex offers specialised solutions in high-speed and industrial doors that meet these standards.

Fire is one of the main risks in this sector due to the presence of flammable materials and high-temperature processes. To meet this challenge, Ferroflex has some models of doors designed to stop the flames from spreading in the event of fire.

One of the most innovative solutions is the EI120 high-speed door with fire curtain, which combines the speed and versatility of a self-repairing door with the protection of a certified fire curtain. Both curtains, integrated in a single head, are independently operated. Under normal conditions, only the self-repairing door operates, but in the event of a fire alarm, the fire curtain automatically deploys, guaranteeing a fire resistance of at least 120 minutes. In addition to this solution, there are also industrial sliding and guillotine fire-rated doors available with EI60, EI90 and EI120 approvals, which comply with the UNE EN 1634-1 fire resistance standard.

Another specific threat in this industry is the risk of explosion, caused by gases, vapours or combustible dust in areas known as explosive atmospheres or ATEX. The Ferroflex ATEX high-speed roll-up door, equipped with a specific motor and antistatic tarpaulin, prevents the accumulation of electrical charges that can generate sparks. Its design allows it to cover large openings and adapt to different configurations, making it ideal for both new installations and renovation projects. Its high opening speed helps to reduce exposure time to the environment.

In chemical production processes that require sterile conditions or controlled environments, Ferroflex offers a high-speed door for laboratories and clean rooms. The model is certified with class 5 air permeability according to UNE-EN H12426:2000, the maximum in its category, which prevents air and particle filtration. Its insulation capacity, together with its opening and closing speed, minimises pressure and temperature changes between the inside and outside, reducing the risk of cross-contamination.

In addition to their technical features, Ferroflex high-speed doors can be customised to adapt to the specific requirements of each installation. Thus, it is possible to incorporate accessories such as sensors, push-buttons, remote controls, photocell barriers or uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS). There are also different options for finishes, colours or the inclusion of windows to improve visibility and operational security.

These specific doors for environments with such particular characteristics are added to the wide range of Ferroflex solutions for industrial environments, which stand out for their speed, functionality and ease of integration. In this way, we reinforce our capacity to respond to the different needs of the chemical sector, offering safe, efficient access adapted to each production environment.
