High-speed roll-up doors to maintain the cold
Fresh and frozen products can be exposed to high temperatures and humidity, compromising quality and generating unnecessary costs. For sectors such as the food industry, maintaining the cold chain is a priority. It is during loading and unloading operations, with a high flow of people and goods, that the opening time of access points is critical. To avoid the loss of cold at this stage of the production process, Ferroflex has designed two models of high-speed roll-up doors specifically for cold storage and cold chambers.
The high-speed door for storage chambers down to 0 degrees guarantees the maintenance of a temperature difference of up to 25 degrees between inside and outside, in environments with a maximum relative humidity of 30%. Thanks to its high opening speed, this door remains open only as long as necessary, allowing maximum use of operating time and minimising air exchange between spaces. In addition, its fabric is made of polyester and a foam lining, a combination that offers high resistance to thermal transmission between adjacent spaces when lowered. This model is especially useful in access to refrigerated chambers used for fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat products, as well as in intermediate areas between loading docks and storage chambers, where temperature loss must be avoided as much as possible.
The high-speed door for cold chambers down to -30°C is designed for even more demanding environments, such as deep-freeze chambers. The model also has a polyester canvas, but in this case, it is covered with two layers of PVC and one layer of insulating foam. The sum of these materials gives the canvas a heat transmission resistance of 25 degrees and a maximum humidity of 30%, but in a much lower temperature range down to -30 degrees (for example, -25 degrees inside and 0 degrees outside).
To guarantee the correct operation of the doors, the motor of both models has heated resistors that prevent the formation and accumulation of frost, one of the main challenges in cold storage and cold chambers. In addition, both doors offer some customisation options, for example, with the installation of a window to facilitate visibility on both sides of the door, or accessories that allow their functionality to be adapted to the operational requirements of each business.
The two doors, therefore, optimise the energy used for refrigeration. They are two efficient solutions for cold storage and deep-freezing areas where a controlled atmosphere must be maintained even in summer conditions. This can be reinforced by good thermal insulation from the rest of the premises, to which other Ferroflex high-speed roll-up door models can contribute by preventing draughts and unnecessary loss of air conditioning.
